1. What sets your food truck apart?
Our food truck is different from most others in the KC area because we
are out most weekdays 10am-5pm, not just at lunch or in the evenings and
on weekends. We publish our route every Monday so people can always
refer to it, and not just have to wait to hear if and when we’ll be out
every morning. Also, we do about a dozen stops per day, stopping around
15-30 minutes per stop, which makes our mobile business even more
mobile than others who have to cook on-site, setting up generators and
parking for several hours at a time in one spot.

2. What is the worst truck disaster you have encountered so far?
The
transmission went out on the cruiser as I went up a hill in downtown KC
in the middle of the workday in May 2011. While I waited for the tow
truck to arrive, I tweeted that if anyone at our afternoon stops wanted
cupcakes, they’d have to come to me. As they pulled us up onto the
tow truck, I was still selling to people! I got some great pics!
3. What are the new trends in desserts? Have you started any of them?

3. What are the new trends in desserts? Have you started any of them?
We added cupcake push pops a few months ago, and although it wasn’t a
totally original idea at the time, it was certainly new to KC, and now we
see them everywhere! Cake pops came before that, but next might be cake
truffles – stay tuned!
4. Where is the oddest place or event you have ever had to sell at?
We’ve
parked right next to Arrowhead Stadium and on stage at the Starlight
Theatre. We have been to the Liberty Memorial grounds, Gail’s Harley-Davidson, the
Kauffman Center's grand opening and local movie premieres.
I started this business almost three years ago because I was a cupcake
lover myself, and when visiting other towns, I saw that cupcakes were on
just about every corner in many cases. I thought until cupcakes are on
every corner in KC, people need cupcakes that come to them, and set out
to do just that myself J.
That service model and our continuing emphasis on customer service
really set us apart. We can show up wherever there is a gathering of
people, which is harder for brick and mortars. We often do “cupcake
drivebys”, either because someone has requested a quick stop in the
middle of our scheduled stops or if we have time and supply at the end
of our daily route, and we put a call out for it. We will often
double-back if we get a tweet saying someone just missed us J.

Delete3 Girls Cupcakes is my absolute favorite! Once we were out and we tracked the cupcake cruiser down via Twitter to grab an afternoon snack. My little one thinks that all white trucks are the cupcake truck now.
